live loop sampling

Using a mixture of electronic sampling equipment and a range of percussion instruments, this is a unique 'solo' percussion performance. Percussion grooves are played, sampled live & played back into the mix while more layers are added, building up to highly rhythmical multi layered multi percussion grooves which are used as a base for improvisation on tabla, daf, darrabouka, djembe, vocal percussion and more.

Indian classical music

Jon also performs Indian Classical music, often with Ricky Romain playing Sitar. More Info & audio samples here

"The brilliant sitar of Ricky Romain in duet with Jon Sterckx's tabla wizardry was a first class example of musicians "playing off" each other, their evident joy never becoming indulgent, and never compromising the aims of the music." - Collin Sell 11.10.03

Jon's tabla playing is the perfect accompaniment to Tim's passionate singing which traverses a huge range from the tender to the booming! Thoroughly enjoyable, they engage the audience and are a delight to be with. Well recommended."  - Ranju Roy, yoga teacher and Director of Association of Yoga Studies (2002-06)
