Indian Music & Song Workshops

These workshops are aimed at Primary level students and are run together with vocalist Sophie Sterckx.

The workshops use Voice, Tabla and Harmonium.

They give a basic and fun introduction to Indian music for Primary school students, using vocalisation of Indian rhythms, scales and melodies and learning an Indian song.

The workshop we offer is an introduction to North Indian Music aimed at Primary schools.

The workshop will inform and enhance any school or class project about India or Hinduism.

We will have the children speaking the tongue twisting language of tabla and it’s enticing rhythmical patterns.

Children will learn to sing using the Indian names of the notes – Sargam – and will learn an Indian song, accompanied by tabla and harmonium.

This workshop will involve the children in speaking rhythms, clapping and singing and really enjoying the sounds of their own voices.

Suitable for key stages 1 & 2.

“The children greatly enjoyed the workshop. You were fantastic with them and they were really engaged. Definately recommend! Thank You. “Philippa O’Sullivan. Class teacher, St. Mary’s Primary School, Thornbury.
